Moving Forward

So the weather here in Texas is so unpredictable. When I first moved here native Texans told me, “Texas is the only place where you can experience all four season in one day.” They did not lie at all. I’ve never experienced a place with so much fluctuations in the weather. It blows my mind. The weather lately has been so sporadic. Its been cold one day then warm the next. I can’t keep up. I don’t know if y’all can relate to this but the radical flips flops in weather results in me having to deal with allergies.

However, no amount of allergies can keep me from smiling as long as I’m wearing this black Brixton hat. Hats are a new venture for me. I don’t own many of them. I will admit, I’m not the biggest hat guy but in the words of Bob Marley “who the cap fit, let them wear it.” So, find the hat that fits you and wear it. I would recommend trying it on in a store and looking in a mirror to make sure you have the right size. You don’t want to put a hat on and walk around looking like you have a lampshade on your head. Proper hat sizing is key because the right hat can elevate a look.

But lets take a detour for a second. I truly believe, one of the most challenging things in life is moving forward. We love holding onto a thought, idea, business, relationship, method of doing things. Sometimes even longer than necessary. To the point where holding on is causing us pain. How is it that when it come time to move forward, we can freeze up and get stuck in our tracks? Do we prefer remaining stuck because we are comfortable and the thought of change or something different just scares us.

Honestly, I’ve been here more times than I would like to admit. For me, one of those moments was a past relationship I was in. It wasn’t the best relationship for me. We both good people separately but we didn’t work together. We wanted different things and we were moving in different directions. But we were trying to keep something together that was never meant to be sustained. Deep in my heart I knew this. But I struggled to move forward because I feared being alone even more. We can believe things like “This is my last chance to find someone’, ‘I don’t know if I’ll ever find someone to love me’, or we try to convince ourselves that a person we may need to let go is way better than they actually are. These are simply lies. We can tend to believe lies about ourselves thats meant to keep us stuck in one place so that we wont move forward. So what lies are you choosing to believe?

We all experience moments in our lives where we need to move forward. Some of us move forward at different speeds and that’s ok. Just move in the direction God is leading you and trust him.

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” – Psalms 119:105 NLT

But lets get back to the style. I went with a simple all black look. Let’s be honest, you can never go wrong there. I’m rocking a black long line tee with side zippers. I’m a big fan for simple and clean looks as oppose to having so much going with a look that it just confuses the masses. So clean and simple always wins out in my book. Of course I have to mention the slickest black leather strap watch on the market right now. This Daniel Wellington Sheffield 40mm watch with the rose gold faceplate. I’m all about the DETAILS.

I can’t forget about these fitted black jeans. A few good black jeans is never a bad thing to add to your closet. I have to plug these high leather black boots by Guess. These boots have a cap toe design with a light brown trim lining the sole of the shoe. Also the chrome eyelets really pop off these boots. These are one of my favorite boots I own.

Here’s the entire look below and two different trains I found to stand and pose by ha.
